The about page is being written by the person who runs this site, in their own words. It is not worth faking, so it is not faked. Until it's here, what follows is what the site does and how it pays for itself.
What this site is
The Strand Guide covers fishing charters and things to do on the Grand Strand — Myrtle Beach, Murrells Inlet, North Myrtle Beach and Little River. The point of it is narrow: help you work out what a trip costs, which boat suits your group, and when to book, before you hand anyone a card.
Most pages you find searching for this are written by someone who has never stood on the MarshWalk at 5am. That shows up in small ways — prices quoted from a single listing, "deep sea" attached to a trip that never leaves sight of the beach, no mention of the tip you'll be expected to hand the mate at the dock. This site tries to close that gap.
How we handle prices
Every price is a range, not a "from" figure, and every range carries its verification state next to the number. If a range hasn't been checked against live listings yet, it says so where you'll see it rather than in a footnote. When it has been checked, it says when.
Charter rates move with fuel, boat size, trip length and season. A single number is a quote from one boat on one day. A range is what you should budget inside.
How this site makes money
Booking links on this site are affiliate links. If you book through one, we may earn a commission from the booking partner, and it costs you nothing extra — you pay the same price you'd pay going direct.
What that does not buy is placement. No operator pays to be recommended here, and no trip is called worth it because it pays better. Several pages on this site tell you not to book something, which is the honest test of whether that holds. The full explanation is on theaffiliate disclosure page.
